Homecoming 2006
Dear Brothers – Believe it or not, it’s that time of year again. We are starting our preparations for homecoming weekend 2006, scheduled to take place Friday, 10/6/06 to Sunday 10/8/06. Last year, our reception at 611 College Avenue was amazing, with over 60 brothers from 5 different decades attending! Remember, this is our chapter’s 75th year anniversary at F&M (“Old enough to know, young enough to dare” – Satch still has the t-shirt), so we want to celebrate the right way!
This year, our preliminary agenda looks like this:
Friday – arrival, informal gathering at Lancaster Dispensing Company in the evening
Saturday – Alpha Tau Alumni Association annual meeting/update 11 am (approximate)
Alpha Tau Alumni Reception – 611 College Avenue 3-6 pm (approximate)
Alpha Tau Alumni Association 75th Anniversary dinner (on campus) – 7:30 pm approximate
Post-dinner plans likely to include Hildys
Sunday – on your own (maybe someone can organize golf and/or a brunch?)
There have been positive developments in the past year on the greek re-recognition front and over the summer, we hope to have a greek housing policy adopted by the College which will call for a “Greek Row”, either on College Avenue or across Harrisburg Pike on a new property which will also contain non-greek senior housing. As for recolonization, Lambda Chi Alpha has started an “eating club” which meets every month or two on campus and has about 10 students attending regularly. I hope we are not far behind.
I will develop a more formal homecoming activity schedule but, for now, I need to get a preliminary head count, especially for the dinner, so we can plan the right type of event. Spouses and kids are welcome at the dinner and/or the reception. Since this fall would represent the 20 yr reunion for class of 1986, I am expecting a HUGE turnout from that pledge class. Also, it is 15 years for class of 1991 and you guys need to come through again. Most importantly, the class of 1981, which to me is mostly responsible for the amazing ZBT house that emerged once locating at 611 College Avenue, can celebrate its 25th this fall, so I am waiting for Zapper, Laurin, Jon G., Murray, Dave M., Chas and all the rest of you guys to be there to celebrate.
So please get back to me soon with your preliminary intentions in order that I can start the planning process. We raised enough money last year to pay for the reception this year, but will need to charge a fee for the dinner. With a little effort, I think we can get over 100 brothers there! After hearing back from you all, I’ll work with the class reps and we’ll get a more detailed agenda, probably to be delivered to all of you in the middle of the summer.
I hope to hear from you all and have a great summer!
C,F&S,
Tony
